Why You Should Get Your Mattress Cleaned

Although we spend up to a third of our lives in bed, most people rarely think about cleaning their mattress. Yet, no matter how clean your home might be, your mattress almost always contains dust, dead skin, bacteria, fungi and dust mites.

Dust mites are microscopic in size and feed on the dead skin cells that flake off our bodies while we sleep. They constantly reproduce in your mattress and the dead dust mites, and the excrement they leave behind, decay in your mattress.

Add to that the biomass that grows from the living moulds and the left behind excrement of dust mites, odours, stains and other organisms generated by skin and body moisture ingress over time.

Dust mites excrete nearly TWICE their body weight each day and their excrement contains an enzyme called 'Der p1' that is a known trigger for asthma, allergic reactions and other health issues, such as eczema, dermatitis, headaches and sneezing. It is also linked to depression, stress and fatigue.

Mattress covers are a comforting accessory and are available upon request. However they just protect against the majority of stains they DO NOT stop the biomass growing inside the mattress.
